Congressman William Timmons (SC-04) released a statement on March 6, 2024, explaining his decision to vote against H. Res. 1061 - Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024. Timmons voiced his concerns about the current state of government spending and the impact it has on the nation's debt.

According to Timmons, "Washington’s spending addiction is why our nation is currently $34 trillion in debt. Our appropriations process is fundamentally broken, and the bill before us today is just more of the same bloated spending that we simply cannot afford." He emphasized the need for fiscal responsibility and expressed his belief that the bill in question did not address these concerns.

Timmons highlighted his commitment to representing the interests of his constituents, stating, "South Carolinians do not want more of the same—and that is why I voted no today and have consistently voted against continuing resolutions and spending packages that do nothing to get our fiscal house in order."

Timmons's decision to vote against the government funding bill reflects his stance on addressing fiscal challenges and advocating for responsible spending practices.
