Buoyed by the return of its star midfielder Noah Pilato off the injured list, the Greenville Triumph played to a scoreless draw with the Chattanooga Red Wolves in a pivotal USL League One men's professional soccer match Saturday night on the pitch at Legacy Early College in West Greenville. 

A fierce battle between two clubs competing for playoff positioning resulted in a scoreless draw Saturday night, as the Triumph extended their unbeaten streak in front of a sold-out crowd, according to a team press release after the match. 

The draw extended Greenville's unbeaten streak to eight matches, with both teams vying for postseason consideration in what was the penultimate game of the regular season. The tie keeps the Triumph in third place, two points behind the Red Wolves.

The match got off to a fast start with Greenville nearly scoring in the 18th minute and then having three consecutive corner kicks later in the game, according to the release, as Pilato, made his first appearance for the Triumph since suffering a back injury in the spring.

Tempers and tension flared during the match between the teams, with nine yellow cards being distributed.

Greenville still possesses the inside track to host a playoff match, though it'll now need a win and a Chattanooga loss next weekend to receive a first-round bye. 

Greenville travels to Cary, North Carolina, to face North Carolina FC at 7 p.m. Saturday in the regular season finale.
